The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is in Dushanbe to take part in the session of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) as an honorary guest.
Ther discussion focused on the current state and prospects of Tajik — Turkmen cooperation.
President Rahmon stressed that the agreements following the summit talks [in Turkmenistan] will serve to further strengthen the friendly relations and cooperation between the two countries.
They discussed a number of forward-looking topics on the bilateral cooperation agenda in industry, agriculture, transport, cargo, cultural, and humanitarian spheres, as well as the use of Turkmenistan’s seaports.
While discussing matters related to the regional agenda focusing on military and political situation in Afghanistan, the officials called for a speedy and peaceful settlement of the conflict in the war-torn country.
The sides also exchanged views on other issues on the international agenda.
